CPT have published on their e-magazine the latest ruling for the 12 day rule for PCV drivers. They state:
"The final text has appeared in the Official Journal, and the revised rules will be available from 4 June 2010. The derogation will allow drivers to work for up to 12 days consecutively provided:-
- The extended run of working days is calculated from a “regular” weekly rest period (i.e. one that is at least 45 hours long).
- They are working a single, occasional service that lasts at least 24 consecutive hours in a 'Member State' or a third country other than the one in which it started.
- After the extended period of working days, the driver takes two regular weekly rest periods, or one regular weekly rest period and one reduced weekly rest period (with compensation later).
- After 1 January 2014, the vehicle is equipped with a digital tachograph.
- After 1 January 2014, if driving during the period from 22.00 to 06.00, the vehicle is "multi-manned" or no more than three hours driving is done between breaks.
