Premium electric car Tesla Motors has further grown its UK presence with the opening of a fourth store and service centre in Birmingham.

Close to the A45 and A38 arterial roads, the new location includes a design studio where customers can configure their car, a four-bay service area and a purpose-built delivery bay.

The latest store follows soon after the opening of a centre in Gatwick and west London (pictured above), and by the end of 2014 the brand intends to have locations across the UK.

Tesla is currently recruiting for upcoming sales and service facilities in Manchester, Bristol, Newcastle and Edinburgh, while continuing to hold test-drive events in locaitons around the country.

Meanwhile Tesla is growing its ‘Supercharger’ network of fast-charging points, with six sites now open. New points in London at Canary Wharf, Tower Bridge and Westfield White City have added to locations at Portman Square and the Royal Victoria Docks.

According to Tesla’s country director for the UK and Ireland, Georg Ell, additional London locations are being worked on with new sites to be announced shortly.

“Our plan for routes around the UK is also under way and we now have four locations outside of the capital, Ell says.

Alongside Birmingham, Tesla has added Reading, Bristol and Edinburgh to the network. Its intention is that within the next six months, drivers of the Tesla Model S drivers will be able to travel the length of the UK relying only on the Superchargers, which can replenish half a charge in just 20 minutes.
